Saturday Night, Post Masquerade: Food, a Friend, Robinsons, Rocky, and Breasts
We had the good fortune of running into
danea late last night after the Masquerade was over. She hadn't eaten all day, since she'd been singing with her choir (a predicament Aaron and I can fully appreciate), so we accompanied her to the hotel bar for some nourishment. I was still in the White Witch costume, and Aaron was still dressed as Puck (the Peter Pan outfit has turned out to be versatile--add horns, instant Puck or Pan, or he was even taken for Mr. Tumnus). A group of somewhat tipsy mundanes came over and asked us, "You look so great, would you mind sitting with us for a picture?" Well, sure, always happy to ham it up for cameras, and non-sewing mundanes are so easily impressed. ;)
We sat in briefly on a panel on "NC-17 Costuming," which caught my attention bc the host is a professional costumer, but it was basically a slide show of his favorite breasts, so we quickly decamped and headed for the Robinsons' concert. Spider and Jeanne sang some sweet love songs and silly ballads, and when they were done, the room was reset for Rocky Horror Picture show. Unfortunately, it took a good 40 minutes to set up, and by that time I was getting a bit headachy (that crown is heavier than I thought!). So I went up to take some Tylenol, and change out of the furs and jewels. I left the bindi and makeup on, so when I came back down in a skirt and top, I was still recognizable. One guy insisted on taking my picture so he'd have "before and after" shots. :)
It was a bit chaotic, even for Rocky Horror, and
danea, who'd never seen it before, was kind of bemused. Well, so was I--I've only seen it once in college myself. Without a good idea of what the callback lines were, it was hard to follow the action. And
danea had a 30 minute drive home, so we bid her goodbye and went back to our room to pack up and collapse.
Sunday: Filking, Shopping, Lunch, and Goodbyes
We checked out and made it down to the filk room in time to catch a too-short hour of filking. The Boogie Knights (whose concert we'd missed in favor of dinner with
danea the night before) did a few group pieces, Aaron sang two things w/ the guitar, and I did Deirdre Flint's "Bridesmaid Song," and couple of other things.
danea showed up toward the end of the hour, and we took a turn through the dealers's room before heading out to get some lunch.
So now we're back, and not looking forward to returning to real life, but there it is...
But first, some pictures!
(And unlocked entries from Friday and Saturday.)
