We flew up to Raleigh this weekend to attend skellington's and partytrick's wedding. It was a Scottish-themed wedding: men in kilts, highland dancing, the whole 9 yards. skellington looked awfully spiffy in his black-on-black plaid dress kilt, and partytrick was beautiful in a traditional white wedding gown, with her hair done up in complicated loops and twirls, twined with pearls.

I love a wedding where there's an announcement to change into your dance shoes. :) This was the first time I'd seen highland dancing, and it was pretty impressive. Somehow Jaime managed to keep up with an entire line of people waiting to dance with her--some of them more than once. There was some country dancing as well, but due to time constraints, they had to run through them pretty fast, with the assumption that everyone knew what they were doing. I exercised the better part of valor and sat out of these. There were a few swing songs later on, so skellington and I got a dance in, and I felt less wimpy about not dancing. :)

After the wedding reception, the bride's family hosted a more informal party at their home, with yet more dancing! Without the time constraints of the reception space, there was time to teach some of the less complicated dances, so I did a few of those.
