Teachers write proposals that are reviewed by the Donors Choose staff; once proposals are approved, donors can log into the site and look for requests that interest them. Students benefited by the donations write thank-you notes back to the donor, and the teacher provides pictures of the students using the donated materials. Donations are tax-deductible.
