Weekend stuff
Very nice weekend visit to the Richardsons. Watched "Hellboy," which failed amazingly to live up to its tremendous suck potential; i.e., it was actually good. Interesting plot, good characters, great script. Why can't they make more movies like this? I'm always annoyed when I criticize a movie for bad plot, acting, or lines, and get told, "It's just supposed to be fun!" or "Yeah, but it was really all about the effects!" There's no law against having a fun movie with good effects and an actual plot, that doesn't sound like it was written by a teenaged film student. Really. I swear. (Although who knows how the American public would vote if that issue ever came up on a ballot. Perhaps it's best not to know.)

Also bought batiste to line my 1830s gown when I make it, and eyelet to make a petticoat. Looking at dupioni silk for the gown itself; hoping to find a cheap online source, as dupioni can be $15 a yard, and I need 6 yards! Ordering the corset pattern from Past Patterns. Gown pattern is from Sense and Sensibility. I got their Regency pattern too, that'll come next. I can use the same corset, which will be convenient. I've learned from the Lizgown experience never to skimp on the underpinnings for any historical costume.

Word Count: 17,220. Failed to meet my goal of 20K this weekend, but I did some outlining and may be back on track. Got another concert this coming weekend, though, and inlaws visiting, so who knows how much will get done? I figure, even if I don't make the NaNoWriMo deadline of November 30, I will at least have enough down to finish the bloody thing, which will be good for me in all kinds of ways.
