Avenue Q
Day Four Billion, Twelve Thousand, Six Hundred Ninety Five:

Still pregnant.

While waiting, we went to see Avenue Q at the Fox Friday night. We'd been wanting to go, but I'd avoided getting advance reserverations, figuring it would be a sure ticket to early labor. And while that might make a fun story, the Fox is kinda far from Northside.

The Fox's Broadway touring shows can be kinda hit or miss sometimes. I think they do better with smaller productions--we've seen Les Mis, The Sound of Music, and West Side Story there, and they were all sort of mediocre. But this was every bit as good as the show we saw on Broadway in 2005.

Since we ended up ordering tickets at the last minute, we had sort of crappy seats way in the back and off to one side, but since we'd seen it before, it wasn't as bad as it sounds. Actually, one of the best parts was listening to the shocked responses of the rest of the audience, every time one of the cute fuzzy puppets said...omg, they said what??? Although, unlike last time, it's entirely possible that the Atlanta audience did have a point of comparison for puppet sex.

So I'm glad the Creature held out a few more days for that!

NYC Adventure
Between snow, traffic, and a wrong turn that landed us in Lawrenceville, it took us an hour to get to the train station, normally a 20 minute endeavor. Since that ate up what would have been our dinner hour in the city before the show, we ended up getting sandwiches at the station to eat on the way.

The snow was still falling heavily when we arrived, and of course no one wanted to walk in that kind of weather, so they were all taking cabs. Which left us, less lucky or less ruthless, to walk 15 blocks to our hotel in a driving snowstorm, lugging two suitcases. After checking in and collapsing for a few moments to warm up, there were of course still no cabs available, so we also had to walk to the theater. Luckily, that was only six blocks, and Avenue Q was well worth it.

Avenue Q spoilers! )

Go see it.
