After spending two days in a post-dance-weekend let-down funk, I finally roused myself to make up for it with an interesting and fun weekend. Friday afternoon, I took Z to the Y (*giggle*) and met up with [info]rslatkin and [info]ahhhnahhh for some swimming. The idea was that we would trade off staying with Z so we could all get some grown-up swim time in. I don't think any of us swam more than five or six laps--it was so much more fun splashing around in the wading pool with Z. We borrowed a baby float and pushed him around in it. He kept slapping his hands on the water, and then looking surprised when he got splashed. Even though it was early for dinner, we all agreed that swimming made us hungry, so we picked up [info]vatavian from work, called [info]abovenyquist to join us, and went out for an early dinner, followed by a walk down the street for ice cream.

Yesterday afternoon I took a 3-hour lindy styling workshop with Evin and Patrick. They went over some things we can do to make our dancing more interesting:

After a quick splash in the sink to divest myself of the worst of the dance sweat, I changed and headed out for dinner with a big mob of folks in Little Five Points to go see the Johnathan Coulton concert. This was opened by a duo called Paul and Storm, formerly of DaVinci's Notebook. I think I might have ruptured something, laughing so hard.

All of this music and laughter and dinner meant we had to leave Z with a baby sitter. Since *everyone we know* was going to this concert, that meant we had to actually pay a stranger from a commercial babysitting service to come to our house. Quite aside from the expense (off-set by the fact that we were sharing the sitter with [info]afeley and [info]sfeley, who brought their four-year-old over to our place), we were a nervous wreck at leaving Z with a strange sitter. But everything came out all right--we got home slightly after midnight to two sleeping angels.

(I feel compelled to note that my sleeping angel woke me at 7 today.)
